Giving Tuesday 2021: Support Our School Lunch Program

Every month we spend $1,065 to feed and provide clean drinking water for the 40 full-time kids in our education program. Nutritious and balanced meals have an enormous positive impact on the health of our kids and significantly reduce the economic burden on parents in Maai Mahiu, where the land is semi-arid and food production is low.

Foundation nutritionist Dennis Kithinji says of the lunch program:

We can prevent malnutrition together with its related effects on children's health and in turn improve their academic performance and nutrition status. Among the children we serve, we have different modified diets. Some have mastication and swallowing difficulties, others suffer from hyperactivity, and others with poor weight gain, making our program an essential and critical part of our special-needs children's service.

To complement the school lunch program, we grow our own organic vegetables on our farm that economically empowers the school parents with casual labor, enabling them to pay the shared cost of school fees and medication for their children with special needs."

We take great pride in feeding our kids during term time and providing them with food packages, and drinking water at home. Would you please join us and make our 2022 program possible?

Our sister organization, Ubuntu Life, is donating the proceeds from ALL sales from their best-seller collection towards our 2022 lunch program.
