Tim Talks with Dr. Tim Williamson

We would like for formally introduce everyone to Dr. Tim Williamson! Dr. Williamson serves on the Ubuntu Life Foundation Board and has been bringing teams of medical volunteers to Kenya for over 10 years. He also happens to be the Physician Vice President of Quality and Safety at the University of Kansas Health System and is in the middle of preparation and response to this global pandemic. In his regular ‘Tim Talks,’ he will share updates about what he has learned about the virus, what to worry about and not worry about, new ways to protect yourself and your loved ones, insight into the health community and the heroes who are leading the charge, and general wisdom and thoughts about the current state of affairs.

CWC Update: February 2020

On December 4th, 2019 we broke ground on the CWC. Today we have laid the foundation down and our next steps are to go UPWARD! The Kenya & US teams have worked hard to finalize the structural designs and we are moving onto the next phase of the project. We will look forward to the weeks ahead & will make sure to keep everyone up to date. The CWC has started creating more jobs for the young people in town. We had over 150 young men and women come to dig the trenches for the foundation of the building. Currently there are 30 hardworking young men and women who are on site daily.

The Success of Peter

Peter’s mother, Mary, faced her worst fears when her son began having convulsions at the age of two. As the saying goes in Kenya, ‘calamities do not come singly’ - with the onset of his convulsions, the all-too-typical story of the stigma of disabilities set in within the family and before long his father was gone and Mary began her life as a single, jobless parent.

Celebrating David

David was born in Nairobi and at the age of two, his mother Teresia noted that he was not responding to sounds like a ‘normal kid’ would. When he was three years old, the family started looking for a school in Nairobi which could address David’s needs but couldn't find anything suitable. Thankfully a family friend referred his mother to Ubuntu Life in Maai Mahiu and our educational centre for children with special needs like David’s.
